Malmö + Weaving = MalmöVÄV
MalmöVÄV is a newly started weaving studio, consisting of a group of artists and crafters with weaving as a common ground. The group formed based on a longing for a context in which, as professional weaving artists, have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, experiences and resources with each other.
This year's theme Proximity connects well with the group's purpose of creating connection and community, both to each other and to the textile material. Across geographical boundaries and generations, human encounters have taken place around textile craft, techniques and traditions. The basics of weaving and thread systems can be found all over the world and so also in our weaving workshop in Malmö. The exhibition shows a selection of woven works made by MalmöVÄV's members where the group's different expressions and breadth) are represented.
