Leave nothing but footprints

Thirteen people posing in front of a lake.

Innovation + Cross sectoral team = Leave nothing but footprints

Ten participants, all with different backgrounds and skills, were selected to join an international team for a seven-day innovation workshop on site in Söderåsen National Park. Their mission was to explore whether it is possible to increase visitors' connection with nature and thereby reduce their negative footprints. The participants were followed by a film team to document the process, the result was "Leave nothing but Footprints".

Project Footprints is part of Tourism in Skåne's open innovation work for a sustainable destination. Together with Länsstyrelsen, Tourism in Skåne organized Project Footprints which aimed to raise the awareness of tourism's role linked to sustainability. The project's goal was to investigate how and if we can forge an anchored connection to nature among visitors so that they develop a sense of stewardship for a location.

Using the Design thinking model the team moved through the following process of ideation, prototyping and testing.

The 45 min documentary is only one output, Tourism in Skåne uses these processes as a means to learn, develop, and adjust their way of working in subsequent projects. Tourism in Skåne is always looking for collaboration partners who are willing to challenge themselves and want to make Skåne a more desirable and sustainable destination.

Lean back, bring out the popcorn and enjoy the show!
