The dinner

Self + Objects = The dinner

Why is economy so deeply entangled in our current crises and planetary challenges? Let's talk about economy!

From the moment we wake up, we actively participate in, and contribute to, the economic system. Hundreds of single habits and small everyday moments in our lives are connected to money. The toothbrush that we use has been bought and has a long story of its own, from material extraction to production, shipping, and distribution. On its journey to our bathrooms, it has been in the hands of many others and therefore tangibly provided for their salaries and life costs.

Through Economic Spaces we are developing and implementing a series of exploratory methods for economic art mediums and installations. The dinner will be mapping a moment between friends during three hours. The purpose of the installation is to simultaneously create real world tangible experiences of future economic possibilities whilst prototyping the 'dark matter' innovations necessary for this future. It will be acting as a provocative system demonstrator and explore time, material, economy, stories and intangibles. But it will also emotionally connect our experience of the current world through realities rather than only discussing climate change, economic powers and human behaviours through distant science and hard-to-grasp technological language. With art we can create dialogues of the distance between us, between objects, between history and our shared future.

We welcome you to take part of our interactive installation at Lokstallarna to delve deeper into what economy means for us all.

PUBLIC EVENT: Friday 20th of May 16-17 at Lokstallarna

An open dialogue moderated by Jenny Grettve with Anjeline de Dios, Caroline Le Bongoat, Sofia Ulver and Clara Dallaire-Fortier.
