Between Materia is a selection of four projects that shares a philosophy - paying attention to materials and processes first. Four explorations focused on four different materials: terrazzo, magnesium, veneer and ceramics. Understanding how things can be made in a better way enables us to bring something unexpected to these materials and techniques.
Four material conversations, each seeking ethical productions. This means form-efficient processes or keeping alive traditional techniques, all to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy.
Between Materia also becomes a conversation between places, as each project is based in a different part of the world, in Japan, Spain, Turkey and Sweden. OnMateria is a design collective founded in Sweden by international designers. Questioning the balance between local and global has become inherent to our reality. What is really a proximity object? How can a new identity of the material be captured? Join us in this conversation through materials, places and techniques.
