Touch, gaze and energy are all things humans can sense when being close to another person. But how does the feeling of proximity translate to – or being replaced – when we connect in Zoom calls, games and the metaverse?

Speakers:
- Maria Engberg is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Media Technology at Malmö University and the Program director of the research program Data Society. In the seminar Maria will introduce the idea of reality media (the topic of her book) and people’s need for a certain space between each other and how it works in virtual environments.
- Kate Devlin is Reader in Artificial Intelligence & Society in the Department of Digital Humanities at King’s College London. She is also the author of Turned On: Science, Sex and Robots. Kate will present her work on intimacy and technology.
- Jakob La Cour is an independent performing artist and immersion designer based in Copenhagen. Jakob will share his learnings from designing immersive VR experiences and bring his latest work and platform “Virtual Phantom Sensation“ to try out.
