The Pleasure Garden of Crafts

Lustgården

Control + Chaos = The Pleasure Garden of Crafts

Dedicated to greenery and the longing for joy and burgeoning life, The Pleasure Garden of Crafts is an exhibition showcasing members from the Swedish Crafts Centre.

The Pleasure Garden of Crafts invites you to a balancing act between concentrated presence and exuberant life, between the controlled and the unrestrained, the dangerous and the pleasurable. The eight members invited by the curatorial duo Günther/Harrius represent a breadth of materials, expressions and generations. We encounter craftsmanship that bears witness to lifelong relationships between the creator and the materials, where hands possess knowledge and an organic sense of form and where every detail is well honed.

The exhibition includes works by Birgitta Faxe, Carsten Nilsson, Charlotte Melander, Ebba von Wachenfeldt, Jonas Rooth, Kristina Lundsjö, Kristine Thenman and Sonja Nordgren.

When we started to unravel the diverse and multifaceted group that form the members of the Swedish Crafts Centre, a recurring theme took shape. We found the colour green. We thought something was sprouting, so we built on that feeling. The result was The Pleasure Garden of Crafts, an exhibition with a feeling of springtime and hope, born out of an abysmal seriousness” /Günther/Harrius.

Curator: Günther/Harrius

Günther/Harrius is a curator duo consisting of Joanna Günther and Caroline Harrius, both ceramicists with master's degrees from Konstfack, Stockholm. Alongside their respective artistic practices, they curate thematic exhibitions that ask questions, engage and leave the viewer with a sense of reflection. They aim to create spaces and conversations, where inclusion is at the core.
