Stockholms Auktionsverk was founded in 1674, on the initiative of Baron Claes Rålamb, who was Governor of Stockholm at that time. As such, we are the oldest auction house in the world still operating today. In fact, we have sold items in styles now known as Baroque, Rococo and Gustavian while they were still contemporary. Our list of distinguished customers over the centuries features names such as King Karl XI, King Gustav III, our Swedish national bard Carl Michael Bellman, and authors August Strindberg and Selma Lagerlöf.

Today, Stockholms Auktionsverk is a leading Nordic marketplace for art, crafts and antiques from a variety of ages and epochs. We operate our business in Stockholm from two addresses: Stockholms Auktionsverk at Nybrogatan 32 in Östermalm, where we hold our large quality and special auctions, and at Magasin 5 in Frihamnen, where we hold online auctions.

Stockholms Auktionsverk also has branches in Gothenburg and Malmö.

Jenny Nordberg (b. 1978) is an industrial designer MFA based in the southern part of Sweden, who works exploratory and interdisciplinary to expand the contemporary notion of design, and of the designer. Whether an experimental, conceptual or commercial project, her practice is always driven by a search for alternatives and counter-strategies to irresponsible mass production. Stylistically, her work is characterised by brutalism and minimalism cleverly combined, often leaning on chance as an important element.

Navigating between art and design, her research and studio work focus on how we produce and consume today, how we have done so historically and how this can be done differently in the future. By exploring questions such as these, Nordberg seeks to transform the preconditions of design and encourage it to take a more engaged position.

The research and design studio of Jenny Nordberg mainly works with studio production, small series, limited editions and site or context specific commissions.

Mats Theselius is an ingenious design legend. In the late 1970s he studied interior design at Konstfack Stockholm and is responsible for some famous Swedish furniture designs of the 90s. He debuted in 1985 with the Elder Leather Seat, a cylindrical armchair made of elk leather, which evolved into a true design classic. Another iconic product that brought Mats Theselius to prominence is the 1988 vitrine, which contains 25 old copies of National Geographic magazines and is painted in the same yellow colour as the magazine cover. His creations are truly unique and artistic, full of aesthetics, style and extravagance. To this day, Theselius is active in many areas and does not put itself in any drawer: moving freely between art and design furniture, lighting, object design, exhibitions, installations, set designs and even music, films and books. The attempt to assign his creations to an epoch is doomed to failure. His furniture is simply different, timeless and special. A variety of awards and prizes stand for recognition of his work, including the Red Dot Award (1996), the Bruno Mathsson Award (1997) and the Wallpaper Design Award (2011).

Karin Wibergs sculptures are made of fired clay, which is then painted or cast in bronze. She has previously exhibited throughout Sweden and in Tokyo. The primeval forest, its mystique, the genuine source, the dangerous and unknown, the beautiful and delightful has always fascinated Karin. Her delicate sculptures come to life under her fingers while she carefully forms them to become enchanting creatures; animals with a human gaze or people with an animal´s look of wonder.

Glen Baghurst is both a designer and co-producer of products and furniture. His work explores luxury ideas within a simple Scandinavian style.

Baghurst likes to combine various materials in his work as he believes each material has a certain quality that can heavily influence how you read an object as well as interact with it. It's common for him to use wood or leather for warmth, metal for strength and stone for stability. He has worked and trained in the Swedish design bureau Apokalyps Labotek (Jenny Nordberg & Petra Lilja) and with Master Designer Mats Theselius. He was formally educated in Industrial Design at the Swinburne Institute of Technology in Melbourne. Baghurst shares his time between his studios in Malmö, Sweden and Sydney, Australia.

Studio Kajsa Willner is a cross-disciplinary business that designs and sells objects in small series and also does commissions for visualising spatial installations, curating exhibitions as well as initiating new projects to create innovative symbioses between the design field and other industries in the region.

Kajsa Willner has a bachelor’s degree in furniture design from Italy. After completing her studies in Rome and Milan and a few years of internships and work experience in the Netherlands, she returned to Sweden and founded Studio Kajsa Willner in Malmö in 2013.

Kajsa Willner was shortlisted for Ung Svensk Form (Young Swedish Design) in 2014/15 and was the bronze winner of the A’Design Award 2017. In 2016 she was selected by Konst i Halland (Art in Halland, a regional resource centre operated by Region Halland and Halland Art Museum in Sweden) to be artist in residence at the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, Poland.

Lisa Hilland creates contemporary design with a poetic twist, combining modern high-tech production techniques with artisan quality craftsmanship. After graduating from Central St Martin's College of Art, she worked ten years as a designer in London before setting up her own studio in Malmö, Sweden in 2005. Her current clients include renowned brand such Orrefors, Gemla, IKEA and Svensk Tenn. Lisa Hilland also founded her very own design range of furniture and accessories, Mylhta in 2018 with inspiration from nature and focus on sustainability. Lisa has received several awards among them Furniture of the Year 2019: Anno Cabinet by Sköna Hem, Furniture of the Year 2019: Mylhta Stool by Form Magazine and Lauritz Icon award 2017 for Gemla Bow Series.
